The Atlantic Home Building and Renovation Sector
Council is an industry association funded in
part by Service Canada’s Labour Market Partnerships
program and governed by a private board of directors.
The sector council is responsible for the development of
a readily available and skilled work force to meet the
needs of the home building and renovation industry in
Canada’s four Atlantic Provinces.
The AHB&RSC is currently
undertaking a study of the Manufactured Housing
Industry in Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada. If

The Manufactured Housing Study will profile the
companies operating in this industry in Atlantic Canada
and the products they produce. The report will also
assess the unique labour and skill requirements of the
industry and identify models for recruitment and
training that are currently underway and proposed for
the future.
The
Industry Training Program for
07/08
is being coordinated and delivered by the Atlantic Home

PRO SPEC 2006 - A Regional Conference on Certification and Licensing in Residential Construction was held on April 6,7 at The Westin Nova Scotia, Halifax.
The Atlantic Home Building & Renovation Sector Council has completed three years of research and consultation on the licensing of contractors and the training and certification of carpenters. We now have a plan and a program and we are ready to move forward with legislation and a new licensing commission.
