2004 Industry training.
The Atlantic Home Builders' Training
Board and the Council are again
offering an extensive program of
courses for the residential construction
sector in the four Atlantic provinces. The courses
have been developed by the industry,
together with federal government
partners that include CMHC and
NRCan.
The Home Builders' Associations in
the Atlantic Region, and the Atlantic
Home Warranty Program, have
provided ongoing support in the
development and updating of courses,
and they encourage their members to
participate in the training.
Between 1991-2003, 606 courses were
delivered to almost 6600 individuals
working in the sector in 25 locations
throughout the Region. Several of
these courses are part of mandatory
training programs, in an effort to
reassure consumers, bankers and
regulatory agencies, that members
have completed training in technical
skills and knowledge, as well
as 'best practices' in the
construction of housing
and management of their companies.
Some courses provide Continuing
Education credits for members of the
New Brunswick and Nova Scotia Real
Estate Associations. The courses have
also been used in other provinces, and
internationally to promote Canadian
housing for the export market.
